The city has a rich history dating back to Roman times, and there are many historical and cultural sites to visit. The city is also known for its cuisine, which includes seafood, pasta dishes, and the famous “panzerotto”. Bari is a popular tourist destination and an important economic and transportation center, serving as the main port for cargo and passenger ships.

Bari offers a variety of attractions and activities to enjoy. Here are some highlights:

· Visit the Basilica of San Nicola: This beautiful and historic cathedral is one of the city’s most important religious sites. It houses the remains of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of Bari, and is a popular destination for pilgrims.

· Explore the old town: Bari Vecchia, or old town, is a charming area with narrow streets, colorful houses, and several important landmarks, such as the Castello Normanno-Svevo and the Petruzzelli Theater. It is a great place to walk around and get a feel for the city’s history and culture.

· Try the local cuisine: Bari is known for its delicious seafood and pasta dishes. Some must-try dishes are “pasta alla barese” (a pasta dish with tomatoes, anchovies, and breadcrumbs), “cozze alla barese” (mussels in tomato sauce), and “panzerotto” (a fried pasta filled with cheese and tomato sauce).

· Visit the beaches: Bari has several beautiful beaches along the Adriatic Sea, including the famous Pane e Pomodoro and Santo Spirito. These are great places to relax.

· Take a day trip: The Puglia region is home to many charming towns and villages, such as Alberobello and Polignano a Mare, that are well worth a visit. You can easily reach these destinations by train or car from Bari.

There are direct flights to Bari from several major cities in Europe, as well as some cities in North Africa and the Middle East. You can take a bus, train, or taxi from the airport to the city center:

    • Train: The airport has a train station that connects it with Bari Centrale station. Trains are operated by Ferrotramviaria SPA: the FR2 (gray) and the FM2 (yellow). To reach the city, both lines are fine. The airport stop is not a terminus. The cost of a train ticket to Bari Centrale is around 5 euros.
    • Taxi: You can also take a taxi from the airport to the city center. Taxis are available outside the arrivals terminal, and the journey to the city center takes about 20 minutes. The fare is typically around 25 euros.
